A 5-year photographic journey of a historic apartment building’s renovation

Terri and Gary West’s Hamilton Apartments located in the Hemphill Corridor of Fort Worth, Texas’ Near Southside, anchors a dominant corner of historic Hemphill Street. The study and documentation of this Colonial Revival-style building has been an immersion into the history, the materials and design prevalent in the 1920s. Each photograph shows the process and care it takes to bring one of these structures back to life from the edge of ruin. It is important we try to save these wonderful places. It is not just about good photography, but creating beautiful images with a balance between the beauty of decay and the brilliance of the architectural resurrection.
